Idaho’s Food and Wine Festival
Sunday, June 12, 2016
It’s early in the season but it’s the
perfect time for thinking ahead. Idaho’s Premier Food and Wine Festival is on the horizon.
Be sure to get your tickets early in
March so you don’t miss out.

Terra Nativa Vineyards is one of Boise’s best-kept secrets. Located in the elegant Tuscan style development in the foothills of Boise below the landmark Table Rock, this prime location is great for growing red varietals. Due to the warmer climate, the grapes ripen about two weeks earlier than in the Snake River Valley Region.
The owners, Richard and Pam Pavelek, share a love of red wines. Richard’s passion for rich yet complex wines moved him in the direction of growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Syrah, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc.
Cabernet Franc, a grape varietal that originated in the Bordeaux Region of France, drew Richard in. It is used as a blending grape for Cabernet and Merlot. This bold, peppery and aromatic wine has light tannins with delicious raspberry flavors. Due to Richard’s unique style, his Cab Franc stands well on its own. It’s pretty darn special, since Terra Nativa Vineyards is the only winery in Idaho that grows this grape.
Producing about 600 cases a year, the small tasting room is open by appointment only. Contact the winemaker at the above email and he will be happy to open up for you.
